Today I am going to make a quick iPad review about the last model launched (the new iPad, the iPad 3, the new iPad 3… you choose the way you want to call it). This is one of the most common free gifts shipped by Freebiejeebies alongside with the iPhone 4S, showing that the popularity of the Apple products are even noticed on the freebie scene.
Starting with the iPad review, at first glance the first thing that you can notice is that the new model is very similar to the iPad 2 in terms of design. With both models turned off you can’t actually say which one is which without thinking a bit. But when we first have it in the hand we can notice a bit of a difference, especially because the new model is almost 60g heavier. It doesn’t seem a lot but can add a little arm strain in a movie session.
iPad review – is it worth upgrading from the iPad 2?
It’s all about resolution! The Retina Display on the new iPad makes everything looks superb. If you have an iPad 2 and don’t plan to buy the new one, then don’t look at it or you will be tempted to get it right away! The resolution is one of the most impressive I have seen on a tablet to date. The color reproduction is also very appealing as it’s really close to reality. It is a good competitor for the super AMOLED HD screen of the Samsung Galaxy tab. With the Retina Display, things like browsing on the internet, photo viewing and movie sessions are much improved over the iPad 2.
But there are some other upgrades that make the new iPad a nice upgrade from the last model. It has an updated A5X processor bringing quad-core graphics and a 5MP camera on the rear (with the same VGA sensor in the front). It also brings the iOS 5.1 to the masses.
The iPad is still very user friendly with just four buttons (the home button is back despite the rumors) and is very easy to work with. These buttons (with exception of the home button) are all clustered together in the top left-hand corner and they are easy to reach. Apple did a good work with the button efficiency and placement making it a great experience for the user.
So the conclusions of this iPad review? If you are looking for a new tablet, this is a no-brainer. The new iPad is one of the best tablets available on the market and is still the most used one. If you already have an iPad 2 then it’s up to you. If you feel that the Retina Display is very important to you then get the new one. If not, then just wait for a more revolutionary model.
